Mr D.S new stamps & arty farty happenings

Hello bolg land!- long time no blog!

I've been busy being arty farty, designing even more new stamps, small studio reno, teaching classes and life in general.Mr Dick-Sticker is in the house. Rachel is holding a challenge read about it here. Well due to Mr D.S lack of a head, he couldn't find my house so he went for a trip back to Ireland he loved it so much. Then he decided he better go and see Rachel for a little while before landing on my door this week. I'll be making something with him this week and will post it here and then he moves onto the next lucky lady.

I found this fabulous Bumblebird on etsy and fell in love with her beautiful dolls- so much so a few had to come and live with me. They are sooo cute. My kids were very excited as we opened the package and they now live in my studio in a little basket nest.
Check out Ngai's new art room- sooo beautiful. It inspired a mini makeover in my studio this weekend. I've been lusting after these 12 cube bookshelves for a while now and I finally got them. I'm so happy with how it all looks, so nice to be able to see everything and be able to find it easily. Love it!

I've also been playing with more canvases- they are so much fun. I've bough a video camera and am hoping to record the making of one once I can work it all out.

The dreasses of the girls in the previous post are taken from vintage books. I love finding the perfect scrap to fit with my theme. lots of good fun- though it did take me some time to get up the courage to actually pull a page out of a book to use. Books are so special to me but it really does add to the works I think.

The Princess is almost finished. She's slow but steady.

Ok I think that is it for this post. Have a crafty week and I'll be back later this week with a Mr D.S. post.
Be crafty

Beautiful Girls

Hello,
I've been very inspired lately. I wanted to do some more small canvases with some girls as the characters. I drew quite a few on watercolour paper and fell in love with them. They are so cute I couldn't not turn them into stamps. The stamps will be ready next week- you'll have first peek here!

With the originals I have been creating my canvases as intended. I've been collecting old books to use as collage elements and am loving some old dictionaries that I have found. Children's dictionaries are fantastic because the font is larger and sometimes there are even pictures.

I'm also in love with my watercolour crayons at the moment and am using them for a lot of my backgrounds. Bees wax is also too cool for school. I've covered the two canvases below with bees wax and it gives such a fantastic effect and protects the art.

I'll post step by step instructions over the next week with photos.

Below is 'Alice's Heart'. The words read 'My (heart) is with you always my beloved'.

And another, 'She Dreamt' words read 'She dreamt of her past as it reached out to remind her of who she truly is'.
I've had so much fun doing these pieces. There are even more planned and I'm looking into having prints made. The large painting is progressing well, she now has a castle and some grass. More photos soon.

Have a creative week and I'll be back soon to introduce you to the girls- I'm sure you'll love them to.
